From February to April 2025, artist Sam Williams worked with local groups at Broadfield Community Centre. Together, they made fun and colourful prints that show who they are and what they enjoy.

Using stencils and stamps the groups created patterns on paper and fabric. These designs show the energy, movement, and life found in Broadfield every day.

Inspired by the rich use and diversity of the communities that call Broadfield Community Centre home, and humbled by the love and connectedness that exists because of this place, Sam designed the installation as a celebration of the creativity and life that seeps from the centre. ‘There’s no place like this’ takes its name directly from a quote of one of the members of the Swallows group, a remark that amplifies the uniqueness of a place that holds the intangible connections of a thriving community.

As well as a temporary cardboard installation, the patterns and banners created by local people were exhibited in the centre’s entrance.
